Icelandic Sheep

I was looking for a single sheep to paint for this month's Virtual Paintout but I came upon this flock and the light was so incredible, I had to paint them all. There is one sheep who stands out for me though, the one near the bank who's laying down posing for the Google camera.

  1. Brilliant Janell, I am right into painting Aussie sheep at the moment. I have something in mind from Iceland for VP but yet to get on with it

  2. The light is indeed beautiful. Is that mist rising from the water? You've captured that perfectly too!

    1. Thank you! It does look like mist which wasn't really my intention, but then I liked the wildness of it so I left it. I'll probably change it at some point. Or not. ;)

  3. This is such an ethereal painting. I would never have guessed that this scene came from google street maps.

  4. Nancy, thank you for your comment. I just checked out your site and enjoyed it very much. Like you, I enjoy experimenting with mediums, paper, etc. I even used to paint on silk! Good stuff!
