Southern Style (cropped)

After painting the original Southern Comfort, posting it here, and sending it off to Bill Guffey of the Virtual Paintout for posting, I plunked it in a mat with an 8x10 opening and I think it works a little better, maybe. It reduces the number of shapes, which seems more eye pleasing. What d'ya think?

  1. I like the original a bit better, though there isn't too much of a change. Why? I think because of the architectural details that are missing. I so enjoy them and they really speak of the gentility of Charleston.

  3. Janell, Both are excellent. The cropped version seems to me to have better focus on the palm tree and column/balcony. I also like the spam of this version. I'd say "you are the artist, go with what you like". Your gut feeling is probably best. Jim B

  4. Thank you, Jim. I think it's six of one, half a dozen of the other too. I'm still in the "relearning" stage with my watercolors, although occasionally getting closer to where I want to be with it. P.S. Nice fish!

  5. Oops, I really mean "SPAN" or the painting, not spam. Guess I should proof read better. Oh well, I still enjoy your work. (Just a typical Siletz River fish.) Jim
