Inspired by Nita Engle's wonderful book "How to Make a Painting Paint Itself," I spattered and slung paint and water for this scene from Latvia on illustration board. It was an interesting experiment but I didn't love the board which seemed to absorb and melt the paint, making it sort of fuzzy looking. All in all, it was ok but I'll be going back to my old standby Lanaquarelle for the next one.
Janell, Just visited your blog after seeing your painting on the VP. Am liking and impressed with your watercolors. Your colors are bold , excellent..You're not afraid to make them stand out.. Will study more of your work to help me get better.. The VP is a fun project..I submitted many in 2010/11..
